The Establishment utterly rejects conservative policies and the conservative principles of self- reliance, limited government, personal liberties, free enterprise and a strong defense. That is because those principles, and the resulting policies, make ordinary people independent of the government, and by extension, of the Washington establishment (whose members are either members of the federal government, or exercise significant influence over it, or help define its agenda).
And the Washington Establishment hates people whom it doesn’t control. It reviles people who are not dependent on the government, and those who oppose Big Government. The bigger the government, the bigger the establishment’s influence.
The Washington Establishment also believes, pessimistically, that there is no practical alternative to its statist policies; that ordinary Americans are utterly unable to discipline themselves, work for themselves, govern their own families and communities, and behave responsibly. This is also the credo of every liberal.
They truly believe that they, these elite politicians/journalists/pundits/lobbyists who currently govern both parties and both elected branches of the government as well as the media, are the enlightened elite entitled to govern all Americans and impose any diktats on them, and that they always know better, even if there is evidence to the contrary.
Please RTWT and take notes. I weary of constantly having to explain the difference.
