A Great Loss To The World

Dr. Walter E. Williams, one of the definitive conservative minds of our time, has gone to be with the Lord.

May God bless and keep his immortal soul.

The Last Real Feminist

"If you live in rock and roll, as I do, you see the reality of sex, of male lust and women being aroused by male lust. It attracts women. It doesn't repel them.” - Camille Paglia

“You have to accept the fact that part of the sizzle of sex comes from the danger of sex. You can be overpowered.” - Camille Paglia

“Feminism has become a catch-all vegetable drawer where bunches of clingy sob sisters can store their moldy neuroses. - Camille Paglia

“Television is actually closer to reality than anything in books. The madness of TV is the madness of human life. - Camille Paglia

“Leaving sex to the feminists is like letting your dog vacation at the taxidermist. - Camille Paglia

“Manhood coerced into sensitivity is no manhood at all. - Camille Paglia

“Men have sacrificed and crippled themselves physically and emotionally to feed, house, and protect women and children. None of their pain or achievement is registered in feminist rhetoric, which portrays men as oppressive and callous exploiters. - Camille Paglia

“In the real world, very smart people fail and mediocre people rise. Part of what makes people fail or succeed are skills that have nothing to do with IQ. Also, the idea that intelligence can be gauged by an IQ test is erroneous. - Camille Paglia

“If someone offends you by speech, you must learn to defend yourself by speech. - Camille Paglia

"Conspiracy theory?"

So, we've all heard about the latest child-rape scandal in the Catholic Church over there in Pennsylvania.  Seventy years, over 300 priests involved, and more than a thousand known victims so far--guarantee you many MANY more will come forward now that this has hit the headlines.

If you have the stomach to read through the report, you;ll notice that a whole lot of the things these priests were telling these kids, and doing to them, came straight out of the Black Mass.  Seriously.  Which means that many of these men were not only predators, but outright Satanists.  Satanist priests?  Well, yeah.  Satanists' favorite cover is being clergy.  Not only is it one of the ultimate forms of giving the bird to God, but it's so blatantly obvious that no one wants to believe it.

Consider, if you will, America in the 1950's.  Black and white, three-channel television was the Shiny New Thing.  Computers were just beginning to be conceptualized, and the internet wasn't even a gleam in DARPA's eye.  None of the horrors of Catholic Church sexual abuse had entered the public record.  Folks still trusted their secular and spiritual leaders.  Go back to that time, and try telling the parents in these parishes that the local Catholic priests are actually Satanists, and are raping their children.  You know what their reaction would be?

They'd want to have you locked up.  They'd think you were absolutely out of your mind.  They'd never believe it.  And yet, that was exactly the case, and it went on for seven decades.

Now, tell me again how "crazy" Pizzagate is.

Amen.

Dethguild hosts Bill Quick's official Coming-Out Party(kinda):

Bill Quick’s homosexuality been highly transparent for a very long time – and to be honest, it does not appear he put any real effort to hiding the fact. He never openly advertised it, but at the same time, Bill didn’t exactly cower quivering in the closet either. Which is simply being polite. After all – mature adults don’t need to brag about “shagging the Mrs.” last night. Sex happens in relationships. It’s a given, and frankly, it’s largely unworthy of outside merit.

So, for us, the Presidential Pomeranian has been out of the bag for some time – and, our reaction was, is… and shall continue to be… nothing. Our family may be devout Christians, but who the hell are we to chuck boulders? Know this: Every damn one of us wallows in all manner of sin daily. Any self-righteous “fundie” barking otherwise needs to spend some serious time absorbing rather than “reciting” the scripture they claim to hold dear. We believe the operating phrase is “let he without sin cast the first stone” Near as we can tell, not one human strutting around on the face of this damn rock meets the sniff-test on that one.

The nuts and bolts of the matter is, nobody is going to be lock-step one-hundred percent in agreement on every ideological issue. Ever. But William T. Quick stands true on the all the ones that matter most to us. Personal liberty, guns, economic freedom and the grinding of statists into dust. He’s consistent, rational and one of the few truly open minded people left. He questions authority.

Thoughts on Mad Max

Some people are Star Trek geeks, some are Star Wars geeks, some are comic book geeks, some are gamer geeks...

...I'm a Mad Max geek.  When I saw The Road Warrior back in 1981(holy crap, has it been that long?  I'm ancient), I was transfixed by the Most Badass Movie Ever.  So, after waiting thirty years for another installment, I was stoked to hear Fury Road was finally happening.

Then I heard all the rumblings about how it was nothing but feminist propaganda, and it sucked, and Max was a pussy, and on and on.  Well, I decided to make up my own mind, so a bunch of us went out yesterday to see it.

Spoilers ahead...

Two can play at that game...

When Chick-Fil-A founder Dan Cathy was asked his personal opinion concerning marriage, he responded that it should be between one man and one woman.  You might remember the temper tantrums the Left threw about that, culminating in the most unsuccessful boycott in human history.

One fool decided to film himself dressing down a sweet young employee at a local CFA.  His malignant case of overwhelming "Social Justice" smugness apparently had him convinced that:

a)  The personal opinion of the restaurant chain's CEO automatically translated into CFA discriminating against queer folk,

b)  The young lady working the drive-thru had any say in whatever policies a national chain restaurant implemented or not, and

c)  That he was perfectly within his rights to be an absolute flaming asshole, publicize his misbehavior all over the intarwebz, and be completely free from consequences.

Wrong on all counts.

Smith said he lost his job and everything that went with it, including a $200,000 annual salary and over $1 million in stock options.
“It was taken when I lost my employment,” he told “20/20.”
After losing his home, Smith was able to find a similar position in Portland, Ore. But two weeks later, his new boss realized he was “that guy in the video,” so he lost that job, too, he said.
May God forgive me, but after seeing the Left attempt to ruin peoples' lives over the slightest real or imagined offense...my sympathy level reads in the negative numbers.  Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

RIP, Terry Pratchett.

God always takes the good ones before their time.  Because it was NEVER his time.  He was supposed to live forever!!

May God bless and keep your soul, Mr. Pratchett.  You've brought joy to millions, and that's most definitely doing His work.

Ironically, it's my birthday.

And some children will never have one.  Here's a comment on this article which you all might find interesting:

I have never had an abortion, but I had a couple of close calls where it was an option to be wrestled with or thought about. I was strictly pro-life in my youth, before I saw personally how decent people using birth control could still end up in such a situation. I shifted from pro-life to pro-choice…and now with more time and (I hope) wisdom I find myself shifting again.
There are some rules that seem to benefit no one. They may be inconvenient or painful to enforce, to live with. They simply affirm something powerful beyond words to the society that upholds them.
The value of human life is one of those things. There are human monsters like Stalin for whom humans had no right to live unless they fit into his 5 year plan. If you didn’t fit his plans, if you were not useful to him, you had no right to live. Humans were simply fancy animals, like cattle that could be culled by their owners, the People In Charge.
Abortion taps into the same underlying assumptions, doesn’t it? It is genocide writ small. The mass of abortions may have been called mass murder, but it still one of the most personal and intimate deaths: one womb, and one human heart.
It is rejection of the idea that humans are valuable because they are, not because of what they can do for another. Abortion is an affirmation that human life has no inherent value: A life that does not fit into your personal 5 year plan has no right to exist.

Ponder that a while.

Maybe they're not so crazy.

Anarcho-libertarians, ie; folks who believe that there should be no government at all, have some pretty naïve ideas.  They don't believe in borders, and they think everyone would just live their lives in a state of liberty without trying to impress their will on others.

Now, all of human history has proven that these ideas are bullshit.  Borders are necessary because different cultures exist, and they are not equal, and many of them are actively hostile to personal freedom.  And there's always going to be one group of assholes or another who want to seize power, and a lot more who will gladly join them to get their own piece of the plunder.  Anarchy is like communism:  great in theory, but when put into practice, it gets run over by the 40-ton truck of human nature.

However, not all their ideas are without merit.  When asked how society would function without government-run police services, they respond that private security firms would be all the policing a community would require.  Maybe they're onto something...

The rationale behind qualified immunity is the belief that absent such protection competent and talented people wouldn’t enlist as peace officers. In practice, however, qualified immunity merely emboldens incompetent and vicious police officers.

“Police should be subject to exactly the same laws and liabilities that the rest of us face,” contends Brown. “If we don’t have perfect reciprocity, then police should be held to a higher standard of accountability than the rest of the citizenry. If they commit criminal acts that result in injury or death, police should do double the time that a `civilian’ would face, because they’re supposed to be professionals.”

As private sector professionals, Brown observes, “we have double accountability – first to our clients who pay us, and then to the criminal justice system and civil courts if we do something wrong. And because the police usually see us as competitors, they are very eager to come after us if we screw up. But in all the years we’ve been working, we’ve had no deaths or injuries – either to our clients or to our own people – no criminal charges, and no lawsuits.”

Now, granted, this solution may have problems of its own.  But it's certainly looking like a better alternative than what we currently have.  The article opens with this question:

|"How would things be different," muses Dale Brown of the Detroit-based Threat Management Center, "if police officers were given financial rewards and commendations for resolving dangerous situations peacefully, rather than for using force in situations where it’s neither justified nor effective?"

Good point.  A better question is, why isn't this happening now, and how did Officer Friendly become Sergeant Slaughter?

Food for thought.

Patriot up!

We have a tale here of a man who attempted to establish a self-sufficient life for himself and his wife.  You know, that whole 'freedom' thing we all like to celebrate.  Well, as far as the local government's concerned...not so much.

I got Cleveland county sherrifs arresting me for walking down the street I live on. I have land I can't live on and nowhere else to go. All my money is wrapped up in this place already, so can't do anything more. Gonna give the goat to my brother, and if he can't take them, I'll sell the pigs cheap to find them a good home.

Rose has been crying all day. I don't know what to say to make her feel it will be okay, because I don't know how to make this okay. I've run out of time, money, options, and faith.

I don't know when I will be able to post again. Or if. Apparently I can live in my car in the State Park if I pay for the electric hookup to be turned on. At least the water is free. But I can't live in a waterproof building on my own land.

Now, one could Monday Morning Quarterback this man, and say that he really didn't think this one through, or do sufficient research, and one might not be wrong.  (And as for the POS who stole his generator:  You'd better get your shit straight, buddy, or eternity is going to be very unpleasant for you.)  However, how many of the issues he's experiencing can be laid directly at the feet of a government that believes it has the right to tell people what they can and cant do, and how they can and can't live, on their own damn property??  This is the "Land of the Free?"  More like the Land of the Fee and the Home of the Slave!

I can't change the world, but at least in this one case, I'm not letting the bastards win.  If you want to kick in, contact info is here at Angel's place.

God bless America...wherever she's gone to.

The world is ending!

I've spent almost 30 years riding Jap bikes.

Started on a beat-up '76 Honda SOHC 750, and continued through various products from the Land of the Rising Sun, culminating in a Kawasaki ZZ-R 1200 which I've put almost 67K on over the last nine years.   Well, I must be having a midlife crisis, because I did something quite out of character yesterday:

Yep...I finally did it.  I'm officially a Harley boy now.  However, I'm still kickin' it old-school--one cam and a carb is sufficient for me, thanks.

Wise words from...Sinead O'Connor??

Something you never thought you'd read on a blog written by one of those Right Wing Extremists, eh?  But--unlike too many people on both sides--I don't give a damn about anyone's sexuality, religion or political leanings when they're speaking the truth.  And Sinead is laying down some truth that young Miley Cyrus really ought to take to heart.

(WARNING:  Profanity at link)

I wasn’t going to write this letter, but today I’ve been dodging phone calls from various newspapers who wished me to remark upon your having said in Rolling Stone your Wrecking Ball video was designed to be similar to the one for Nothing Compares… So this is what I need to say… And it is said in the spirit of motherliness and with love.

I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way ‘cool’ to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos. It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether its the music business or yourself doing the pimping.

Nothing but harm will come in the long run, from allowing yourself to be exploited, and it is absolutely NOT in ANY way an empowerment of yourself or any other young women, for you to send across the message that you are to be valued (even by you) more for your sexual appeal than your obvious talent.

It's long, but worth reading.  How many of us conservatives are trying to get this message across to the young ladies of today?  If they hear it from someone we might not agree with, does it really matter as long as they listen?

Just read it.

Welcome Alpha is Assumed (wait...I see what he did there!) to RTD.

GIA is reflected in America’s founding documents, the wings of the conservative/libertarian movement, the effective application of rhetoric and game, economic law, the Trinity, and in innumerable other ways.  Once you recognize her (I’ll refer to GIA as “she” because “it” gets boring after a while), you’ll see her everywhere that things actually work.  You’ll also notice how things that don’t work result entirely from misunderstanding her or one of her components.

I realize that many of you don’t believe that the Bible is a sacred text.  Even if it’s not, it is the foundational text of Western Civilization (supplemented by the writings of Aristotle), and as such, even if it’s nothing more than a collection of “desert fairy tales”, it should not be disregarded.

So I’ll present GIA through one of the ways in which she was most succinctly expressed in the past:  the desert temptations of Matthew 4.

Because THIS.

Seriously, a long and involved study of this man's writings may go a long way toward understanding the human condition, science and faith.  Prepare yourselves to exercise your gray matter.

The hidden evil of unlimited wealth

The Good Captain has some insight as to why we really shouldn't have everything we want, on demand.

Therefore, in an ideal world (say like Star Trek where they have a replicator), resources would not be scarce, but limitless.  If you had unlimited oil or unlimited diamonds or unlimited chocolate, everybody's "wealth" would increase to a maximum level at minimal cost.  Standards of living would be unlimited and the only thing that would limit your life would be your mortality.  Ironically, in such a world, economists would be unemployed because there would be no need for them.

Of course, a scarceless, unlimited wealthy world is not feasible.  There is a limit to everything, not only including physical resources, but human time as well.  But there ARE instances of unlimited wealth and while economists may think that is the ideal situation or "goal" of economics, they  may want to rethink such an infinitely wealthy world.

Understand there are instances of unlimited wealth.  I've seen it first hand.  And it was when one of the Saudi princes came to the Mayo Clinic.

RTWT.  There's serious wisdom here.

The way to fix student loans

Which, of course, will never happen, since it makes too much sense.

The premise here is simple: treat students like actual investments. Banks and loan companies do this all the time with small businesses: they dictate terms and demand collateral. If you mess that up, you pay for it. If you walk in without the right answers, you leave with nothing minutes later.

Banks and loan companies could easily offer student loans based on where the student has been accepted (party schools have higher interest rates, whereas small, focused schools get lower interest rates because graduation rate is higher). Some community colleges might have the lowest interest rates of all.

Further, these lenders could declare certain majors off limits. Nursing, IT, engineering, and accounting? These offer low interest rates because employment rates are high with less turnover. Education is a break-even at worst. But good luck getting financed if you want a Master’s in Gay Literature: no one is hiring, which means no chance of paying your loan back. Sound cruel? Look into what lenders do to small businesses when they owner has no clue how business works.

RTWT.  What?  Expecting borrowers to show responsibility?  Why, that's just crazy talk.
